Short & Sweet House Darshan

On the morning of 21st February, Srila Maharaja went to the house of Bal Kishen prabhu and Krsna-priya didi to their new house. Below is His short and sweet lecture. ( Srila Maharaja ): I have come to remind you this. Always follow the instructions of Sri Guru. Chant harinama and your diksha mantras, morning, noon and at evening time. If you go to school and you do not follow your teacher, then, you are sure to fail. In a family, if there is a son, then he must be a pure devotee. A kanishta adhikari can liberate 7 generations of his family members from previous births, a madhayama adhikari liberates 14 and an uttama 21. For a family who is not in Krsna consciousness, having a son is like urine. ( Sripad Brajanath prabhu asked a question on behalf of Vrnda didi ): If the mother is a devotee, can she liberate the family. ( Srila Maharaja ): Yes. But she must be a pure devotee.

His Sweet Will

Sripad BV Madhava Maharaja speaking on the importance of sadhu- sanga . On 21st February 2009, Srila Maharaja gave a wonderful lecture on the importance of sadhu- sanga and why sadhus (sages) are travelling all around the world. Srila Maharaja called upon some of his disciples to talk about the subject matter--- 'the glories of sadhu- sanga ' (associating with holy sages). One of them even mentioned that although many countries are inviting Srila Maharaja , His Divine Grace very mercifully has come to Malaysia many times. When Sripad BV Madhava Maharaja spoke, he somewhat 'corrected' the earlier speaker. This is a small excerpt of His Holiness's speech. ( Sripad BV Madhava Maharaja ): " Srila Gurudeva is not dependent on our invitation. He is travelling and going everywhere on his own sweet will. His heart feels for us because we are in misery and there is weakness of heart." [His Holiness also mentioned how men are attracted to the 3 W...

Vyasa-Puja 2009

Malaysian devotees had a most memorable Vyasa-puja at Desaru, Southern Malaysia with Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja. The six day festival was a success with many devotees from all around the world coming to attend this event. Srila Maharaja sitting outside his villa at Desaru Golden Beach Hotel and speaking to devotees and well-wishers. During this time a devotee asked about the gopis and the rasa dance. ( Devotee ): When Krsna left the rasa dance, did the other gopis...... ( Srila Maharaja ): Firstly, do you know the meaning of the first sloka in the Upadesamrta.( Devotee ): Yes. vaco vegam manasah krodha vegam jihva-vegam udarapastha-vegam etan vegan visaheta dhirah sarvam apimam prthivim sa sisyat (A wise and self-composed person who can subdue the impetus to speak, the agitation of the mind, the onset of anger, the vehemence of the tongue, the urge of the belly and the agitation of the genitals can instruct the entire world. In other words, all person may become disc...

The Destination

Death is inevitable. Sometimes we see our friends and family members so alive and kicking. And the very next moment they are gone. But who has gone? It is the soul --- The driver of that body or human machine as some may call it. It is not so important when we will go or leave the body. It is more important where we will be going. The soul transmigrates from as many as 8 million 400 thousand species of living entities. It is a vicious cycle of birth and death. Some fools say it is nice to be born a swine and let someone slaughter them. Is it really the case? When one takes a swine's body, only then will it realise that fear of death or to be slaughtered are very terrifying experiences. Otherwise why do even animals show so much fear before being slaughtered? As humans we must ponder about such matters. Or else we are nothing but two-legged animals. But if a human-being as taken shelter of the Holy Name, heard Harikatha from a bona-fide spiritual master, then that soul is guaran...

The Best Reformers

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur used to say-" The only problem in this world is the lack of Krsna Consciousness ." There is definitely an urgent need for all to come into contact with Krsna. As long as we are in contact with the world of attachments, the further we are from the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Krsna being the Most Merciful has sent His beloved agents in the form of Gurus. It is the duty of every man to seek a higher truth to get out of their miseries. Therefore, the bona-fide gurus are the best reformers in society. One may build orphanages or hospitals but the real issue---the core of the problem, that is of the soul is not resolved. The great acaryas are not for political or social reforms. Their method is simply giving pure harikatha. Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaja sat under a tree in Thompson Square Park in New York. His pure chanting and harikatha turned hippies into happies. How is it possible? The power of Krsna-nama and Harikatha is so powe...

Inquire Submissively From A Bona-fide Guru

Nowadays there's so many bogus gurus. These self-professed 'saints' are only interested in making followers and collecting money. But a true sad-guru is indeed very rare. He honours all, be it a dog or an ant. Such a bona-fide guru is never afraid to carry out the instructions of his gurudeva and the entire guru-parampara as it is. Bogus gurus may try to stop their charge from hearing harikatha from a bona-fide personality, but a true bona-fide guru is never shaken and will rise high despite the so-called tidal wave or obstacles thrown in front of him. For he is truly a saint and has fully controlled Krsna with divine love. He is an uttama-bhagavata, a topmost devotee of the Lord. tad viddhi pranipatena pariprasnena sevaya upadeksyanti te jnanam jnanimas tattva-darsinah (Bhagavad-gita, 4.34) "Just try to learn the truth by approaching a spiritual master. Inquire from him submissively and render service unto him. The self-r...
